Su origen data del a\u00f1o 1955 cuando fue creado como Puesto de Salud posteriormente, en el a\u00f1o 1960 fue ascendido a Centro de Salud\u00a0 y en 1962 a Hospital Local de Primer Nivel de atenci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el a\u00f1o 1975 fue definido, mediante Resoluci\u00f3n N\u00b0005427 del Ministerio de Salud, como sede de la Unidad Regional de Granada adscrita al Sistema Nacional de Salud la cual inclu\u00eda, entre otros, los centros de atenci\u00f3n de los municipios de San Mart\u00edn, Fuente de Oro, El Castillo, Puerto Lleras, Vista Hermosa, Lejan\u00edas, Mesetas y San Juan de\u00a0 Arama.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En 1991 la instituci\u00f3n es transformada en Hospital Departamental siguiendo las directrices generales de reorganizaci\u00f3n del Sistema de Salud planteadas desde la Ley 10 de 1990 y la ley 100 de 1993.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El 25 de Noviembre de 1996 la Asamblea Departamental, mediante Ordenanza N\u00b0 105 y de acuerdo al decreto 1876 de 1994 se conforma el Hospital Departamental de Granada como una Empresa Social del Estado y lo convierte en una entidad descentralizada con autonom\u00eda administrativa, financiera, Autonom\u00eda presupuestal y representaci\u00f3n legal propia.
